Meet our groomers and bathers

Lori Schleigh, Dog Groom in Chandler, AZ

Hi I’m Lori.

My life has always been about dogs. In the last 40 years I’ve shown, raised, trained, groomed, bred, whelped, (in fact, I coined the phrase mid-woof for myself because I delivered so many litters for people), lost, and mostly loved dogs. My intention for opening a shop is to teach other groomers how to become “More Than a Groomer”.

Grooming is an important part of your dogs’ health. Over the years I have learned how to recognize many ailments in dogs from bad teeth to anal gland cancer. Groomers and bathers are touching and looking at every part of your dog and will let you know if something needs attention. I usually recommend having your dog groomed every 6 to 8 weeks this way we can alert you to any changes from grooming to grooming. That is why I prefer to keep the dogs with the same groomer.

Grooming can be dangerous. We use sharp tools and work on a limited surface. I want to create the safest and most pleasant experience I can for your dog. This involves training. We use firm words like ‘No, hold still, stay…,’ every groomer uses their own words or noises to convey the desired effect. When the behavior is corrected the dog is praised. I keep your dog with the same groomer so they can learn the routine and words. This makes your dog more comfortable, they know what to expect each grooming. If you have any concerns about our training practices, please bring them to our attention.

Meet Mikey!

He has been a Dog Groomer for more than 35 years!!! Mike loves all animals, especially dogs!!! 🐕 There is nothing more he would rather do than groom! “This isn’t a “job” for me. It’s a hobby I get paid for”! Mike really excels, and is an expert at Terrier grooming, his specialty. We are ecstatic to have his vast experience and skills. Mike’s biggest reward is watching the smiles on his happy customers faces after he transforms their scruffy smelly mess into a thing of admiration. As an additional perk to Mikey’s grooming expertise, he has an excellent singing voice! You can hear a live performance daily of Mikey serenading the shop with Rock Hits from the 70s and 80s. 🎶 He really loves his job! 🙋‍♂️

Lainie, Dog groomer in Chandler, AZ

Hello, my name is Lainie,

I’ve been a pet groomer for 10 years. I’ve always been an animal lover and caretaker since I was a child. My first job was bathing dogs at PetSmart when I was 18. I immediately knew that grooming was going to be the career path I wanted to take. There isn’t a single breed of dog out there that I can’t groom, I love them all! Though I’m generally the recommended groomer for large dogs, a lot of my request customers have Doodles, Poodles, Double-Coated/Desheds, & Large breeds. I also groom puppies, elderly dogs & pups that need a little extra time, training & attention due to anything from behavioral issues to stress & anxiety or health conditions such as difficulty standing/arthritis/hip dysplasia/etc. I love working with pets and seeing them happy and the families they belong to!

Hayley, Dog groomer in Chandler, AZ

Hello, my name is Hayley.

I have had a passion since I was a little girl to work with animals, especially dogs. I love to groom all breeds especially Cocker Spaniels, Shih Tzu ,and Maltese. Grooming is a art form that changes the appearance of the animal making them even more beautiful or handsome.  I owned my own grooming shop in Arizona for 6 years, before that I worked for Pet Smart. I also ran a Pit Bull rescue. I now own both large and small dogs from a Great Dane to Chihuahuas. I love working with the whole team here at More Than A Groomer.
